One child, one teacher, one person can change the world.

LEF, in coordination with the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana Technical College, and United Way of Acadiana, presented the eighth annual Career Connections on April 4, 2007. Over 3,600 Tenth grade students from Lafayette, Iberia, and St. Martin parishes attended the eighth annual Career Connections Expo at the Cajundome Convention Center. Ninety businesses participated in mentoring students as they explored a variety of career options. Over 300 community volunteers facilitated the Reality store, where students learned what it costs to live in today's world.  Career Connections is an exciting way for business and community agencies to support education and make an investment in the future. Together the business community and schools can reinforce the importance to students of mastering basic skills and can help students remain motivated about learning.

Please contact LEF if you are interested in volunteering or sharing your profession with students.

The Ninth annual Career Connections Expo will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the Cajundome Convention Center.
